Easy MySQL Database Migration with Elestio

Moving databases can be difficult and may come with many problems, including downtime risks. At Elestio, we understand how important a smooth and efficient transition is. We are excited to announce our new DB Migration Service (DBMS). It is robust, easy to use, and created for a seamless database migration from on-premise MySQL databases and other cloud providers.

In this guide, we will walk you through easy steps on how to move your MySQL database to Elestio with the least possible downtime and disruption to your business.

Step 1: Prepare for Your Migration

To begin with, navigate to the overview of your Elestio MySQL service.

Click the Migrate Database button. A modal window will appear, which you must confirm has your target service with enough disk space to be able to allow your database to migrate. When so, click Get Started.

Step 2: Validate Your Connection

Next, you will be required to give the connection details for establishing a connection to your source database. Fill in the following fields:

  • Hostname
  • Port
  • Username
  • Password

After entering those settings details, click Run Check to validate the connection.

Step 3: Kick Off Your Migration

If the Connection Checks have completed with no errors, you may proceed by clicking on Start Migration.

You can see the progress in real-time with the migration logs right on the platform. This way, you have updates all the time and can timely address problems that may arise during this process of migration.
