Self-Host Stirling-PDF: 50+ Private PDF Tools on Your Server

You need to merge two PDFs, or strip a password, or OCR a scanned contract. So you do what everyone does: you Google "merge PDF free," click the first result, and upload a document with your client's signature and bank details to a server you know

Keycloak

Inside Keycloak's Offline Tokens: How Long-Lived Sessions Actually Work

You're building a CLI tool. The user logs in once, your tool grabs a token, and then a few hours later everything breaks. The refresh token expired with the SSO session, and now your background job is asking the user to open a browser at 3 AM. This

GitLab

Self-Hosted GitLab + Elestio: Set Up CI/CD from Your Own Git

If your code lives on a self-hosted GitLab instance, deploying it to a managed platform usually means writing your own pipeline scripts, juggling SSH keys, or running a custom runner somewhere. Plenty of you have told us you don't want to mirror private repos to GitHub or

Paperless-ngx

Inside Paperless-ngx: How OCR + Tagging Actually Works When You Drop a PDF

You drop a PDF into a folder. Twenty seconds later it shows up in the UI with text you can search, tags that match the content, and a filename that looks like a human typed it. Most users never look at what happens in those twenty seconds. Today we do.

LibreChat vs OpenWebUI vs Lobe Chat: Which to Self-Host in 2026?

You've decided you don't want your team's prompts (or your customers' chat history) sitting on someone else's GPU. Good call. Now comes the part nobody warns you about: picking a self-hosted ChatGPT clone is harder than picking the model behind

Euro-Office vs OnlyOffice: The Fork That's Splitting the Self-Hosted Office World

On March 27, 2026, a coalition of nine European companies walked into the Bundestag in Berlin and announced they were forking OnlyOffice. The project is called Euro-Office, and it's already the most controversial thing to happen in the self-hosted office world since LibreOffice split from OpenOffice.

Paperless-ngx on Elestio: Automating Document Ingestion, OCR Processing, and Smart Tagging

Paperless-ngx can ingest your documents. You already knew that. But most people stop at "drop PDF in folder, let OCR do its thing" and never touch the automation engine sitting right underneath. That's a mistake. The workflow system, matching algorithms, and storage path templates can

Open WebUI Just Gave Your AI a Real Computer

Most AI chat interfaces let you talk to a model. Open WebUI lets you hand it a terminal and say "figure it out." That's not hyperbole. With the Open Terminal feature, your LLM can install packages, run scripts in any language, manage files, and spin up

Your Team Doesn't Need Tableau: How Metabase Turns Any Database Into a Dashboard Anyone Can Use

Tableau charges $75 per user per month. Looker averages $150,000 per year. Power BI just raised its prices by 40%. Meanwhile, over 4,200 companies are running Metabase, an open-source analytics tool that does 80% of what those platforms do, and it costs nothing in license fees. If

The 2026 Platform Engineering Stack: What Open-Source Tools Companies Are Actually Running

Every engineering team eventually hits the same wall. You've got five SaaS subscriptions for CI/CD, three more for monitoring, a separate secrets manager, and somehow you're still SSHing into production to check logs. Sound familiar? The platform engineering movement isn't about adding more

Zammad

Zammad Ticket Automation: Building Custom Triggers, Webhooks, and Macros for Your Support Workflow

Every support team hits the same wall. Tickets pile up, agents spend half their day routing emails to the right queue, and somehow a high-priority issue from your biggest client sits untouched for six hours because nobody saw it. You don't need more agents. You need Zammad&

Headscale: Run Your Own Tailscale Control Server (Zero Cloud Dependency)

Mesh VPNs changed everything. Instead of routing all traffic through a central server (and paying for that privilege), your devices connect directly to each other. Tailscale made this magic accessible to everyone with a slick UI and zero-config setup. But there's a catch. Your connection metadata still

EU Data Residency Laws Are Breaking Your SaaS Stack (Here's How to Fix It)

If you're running a European business on American SaaS tools, you might have a compliance problem you don't even know about yet. The regulatory landscape shifted dramatically in the past two years. GDPR enforcement got teeth. The EU-US Data Privacy Framework faces ongoing legal challenges.

175,000 Ollama Servers Are Wide Open Right Now (Is Yours One of Them?)

Researchers from SentinelOne and Censys just dropped a report that should make every self-hosted AI enthusiast nervous: 175,108 Ollama instances across 130 countries are sitting on the public internet with zero authentication. No password, no API key, no nothing. Nearly half of them have tool-calling capabilities enabled.

Stirling PDF: The Open-Source Tool That Finally Lets You Delete Adobe Acrobat

Every business deals with PDFs. Contracts to sign, invoices to merge, reports to compress, scanned documents to make searchable. And for most teams, that means one of two things: paying Adobe $20/month per user, or uploading sensitive files to some random free website you found on Google. Neither option

The Headless CMS Revolution: Why Enterprises Are Taking Back Control of Their Content

Enterprise content teams are having an uncomfortable realization: they don't actually own their content. Sure, they pay for it. They create it. They publish it. But when that content lives on a SaaS platform's servers, subject to their terms of service and pricing whims, "ownership&
